Let’s Get Behind Local Business

It is clear that local business owners require more support from Council. As I talk to business owners throughout Ward 1, I am hearing the same message. “Business is tough and we need Council to be more empathetic to the needs of local business owners”. Many business owners refer to a lack of vision and planning on the part of Council and some went as far as to say that Council seemed “anti-business”.
As a former small business owner, I understand the pressures on local business operators. It’s time for Council to recognise the crucial role that local business plays in our community. Our local business owners not only provide much needed employment opportunities, they are the cornerstone of our vital tourism industry.
One of the best aspects of our village life is that we personally know our local business owners. Let’s not lose this distinctive aspect of Mountains living. If elected to Council, I will work with local business owners to understand the issues they face and to forge practical, long term solutions for them. I will work with our Chambers of Commerce and our Service Clubs to ensure that business is fostered and encouraged in the Blue Mountains.
Our local business owners are important members of our community and they deserve our attention and support.
